The parking ticket travesty in Los Angeles

Parking tickets are reasonable when parking regulations are reasonable (meaning they can be understood without a Ph.D.), and there are alternative legal parking locations.  Parking tickets in Los Angeles are a travesty.  One should not need legal advice to determine which combination of the conflicting parking restriction days/hours/side of street/color of your car/weather/mother's maiden name... might be applicible in your particular case.  The situation is that much worse if you live in high density neighborhoods with few parking options (if, for example, you're poor).  The city really needs to find a more reasonable way to manage parking issues here.  On a related note, we'd all be better off if the city took some of that ticket generated income and used it to fix the surface streets, which are a disgrace.
